A ballistic assessment of eye protector lens materials.
نویسنده
چکیده
The impact resistance of commonly used eye protector lens materials is measured with a ballistic system, using YA inch (6.3 mm.) and Vs inch (3.2 vim.) steel balls. The results, taken in conjunction with the findings of earlier drop-tower work, permit a comprehensive evaluation of the impact resistance of 3 mm. and 2 mm. thicknesses of allyl resin and thermally toughened glass against a series of steel balls ranging in size from 1Y& inches (28.6 mm.) to Vis inch (3.2 mm.). While 3 mm. toughened glass is stronger than 3 mm. allyl resin when impacted by the larger missiles, the position is reversed when the smaller missiles are used. This is held to postulate the need for both drop-tower and ballistic tests in acceptance requirements. Additionally, the relative inferiority of 2 mm. toughened glass at all points of the scale is shown.

Evaluation of Occupational Radiation Status and Validity of Individual Dose and Eye Lens Assessment Using Single Film Dosimeter for Angiographic Staff in Iran
Background and Aim: In angiography, the lens of the eye may be exposed to radiation and cause cataracts. In Iran, at present, only a single film dosimeter is used under the lead-apron to evaluate individual doses. The aim of this study was to investigate the status of occupational radiation as well as the validity of measuring the dose of the whole body of individuals and eye lenses using a sin...

Introduction International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has provided a comprehensive discussion on threshold dose for radiation-induced cataract in ICRP publication 116. Accordingly, various parts of the eye lens have different radio-sensitivities. Recently, some studies have been performed to develop a realistic eye model with the aim of providing accurate estimation of fluence...
متن کاملAssessment of Radiation Dose to the Lens of the Eye and Thyroid of Patients Undergoing Head and Neck Computed Tomography at Five Hospitals in Mashhad, Iran
Introduction: In recent years, the number of computed tomography (CT) scans, which is a high-dose technique, has increased significantly. Head and neck CT is performed frequently and thyroid, particularly in children, has always been considered a sensitive organ. In recent years, radiobiologists and health physicists have been more concerned about the safety of lenses of the eyes, as cataract i...
